About HHS

Here at Hernando High School, located on Dilworth Lane, teachers spend all year preparing all students for college, the professional world, and state test such as Biology, Algebra, U.S. History, and English. Students must pass these tests in order to graduate. Also to graduate, a student must have a minimum of 26 course credits. In order to promote their school, college recruiters often visit HHS.  These colleges include Ole Miss, Delta State, Mississippi State, University of Memphis, Baptist School of Health Sciences, Delta Technical, and Northwest Mississippi Community College.

To give students an edge, Hernando offers college credits such as English Composition and Advanced Placement courses such as Chemistry, Calculus, English, Biology and U.S. History. Hernando also offers PSAT and ACT prep classes. Last year alone, Hernando was awarded over 2.5 million dollars in scholarships. It is because of achievements like this, Hernando High School is an A School and ranked 2nd in the State on schooldigger.com.

In addition to these academic accolades, HHS also offers an excellent athletic program. Tiger sports include archery, soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, basketball, track, football, swim, cheer, golf, and volleyball.  To further student appeal HHS offers an award winning fine arts package, which includes Theatre, Visual Arts, Marching Band and Concert Band.

Students have the choice to join a variety of clubs.  Such involvement goes a long way in building extracurricular participation when it comes to students applying for college.
