Dual Credit

Hernando High School is proud to offer dual credit classes through Northwest Mississippi Community College and Delta State University.

Students who dual enroll are able to earn college credits while still in high school, thereby giving them a “jump start” on their higher education.

Classes in English, mathematics, history, trigonometry, music, art and biology are among those taught in the dual enrollment program. Classes are either taught on our high school campus or online.  The classes that are taught on our campus are taught by our high school teachers, but these teachers must meet the same requirements that Northwest and DSU instructors do. Classes taught online are taught by Northwest or DSU teachers.

High school students may attend Northwest simultaneously provided all of the following requirements are met:

  • Must have completed a minimum of fourteen (14) core high school units.
  • Must have required GPA-3.0
  • Must complete a Northwest Application for Admission. *see documents for directions
  • Must have official ACT scores.
  • Must have an unconditional written recommendation from their high school principal and/or guidance counselor. Students may be considered for the dual enrollment program who have not completed the minimum of  fourteen (14) core high school units if they have a minimum ACT composite score of thirty (30) or the equivalent SAT scores.
  • Mrs. Garrison will send transcript/ACT scores and recommendation letter to NW after your application is complete.
